Dinner is served either in the traditional African boma (campfire area) at safari Lodge or lantern lit deck.

We have two lodges here at Ulusaba. One is perched high on the summit of a koppie (rocky hill) and we call it Rock Lodge. It is here where you will find spectacular panoramic views over miles of bush, the wildlife roaming within, and the beauty of the lowveld (bushy grassland plain) below, all set against a backdrop of the Drakensberg Mountain range far in the distance.

Under a canopy of ancient trees, overlooking the Mabrak watercourse is the magnificent Safari Lodge in the Ulusaba Private Game Reserve. Wooden swing bridges and candle lit-dinners in the Boma are part of the charm and splendour of this lodge, but it is the ten Safari Lodge rooms that truly make this area special.

The Safari Lodge's rooms are divided into four sections, the exceptional Safari rooms, the three luxury Elephant rooms, the new Treehouse Suite and the four outstanding River rooms. Accommodating a maximum of 20 guests, the Safari Lodge rooms can be booked individually or in their entirety for the ultimate private safari or function.

Each of the Safari Lodge's rooms is equipped with air conditioning and fans, providing the ultimate comfort for guests and an ideal escape from the hot African afternoons. Each room is designed to resemble a tree house, offering a truly unique style of accommodation that is a delight for guests. This elevated living provides stunning views of the African veld, allowing guests a form of live entertainment that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The nearby waterhole ensures that there is a constant stream of animal traffic passing each of the Safari Lodge rooms.

Many people describe staying in a Safari Lodge room as experiencing the real Africa. The camping feel really allows guests to get back to nature, but with a luxurious twist that should not be missed. Each room is fully equipped with every luxury and the personalised five star service ensures that every guest's expectations are not only met, but surpassed. 

The Treehouse Suite is about a 15 minute walk along the elevated walkway from Safari Lodge. It's great place to get up close and personal with hippos and elephants when they come to bathe and cool down in the nearby Xikwenga Dam. The dam is the largest in the Western Sector of the reserve, and when you stay here it's almost as if they game comes to you rather than the other way round. Even the walk to the Treehouse is an experience as you pass under the canopy of ancient trees over the dry river bed - there is a fantastic array of bird life on display. Guests staying here can opt to dine privately on the deck area just off the suite. A Treehouse security guard is dedicated to the suite from 06pm to 06am every evening.
